Karnup Train Station and Bus Depot to go ahead

28 Jun 2018, by Denis Terrell in Community

In 2014, the then Barnett government Minister for Transport stated he would not even consider building a train station in Karnup until 2025.

WA Labor went to the 2017 election promising to right this wrong and commence building the station in 2020. The McGowan government will keep this promise.

The train station is essential to meet the needs of the rapidly growing areas of Warnbro, Port Kennedy, Secret Harbour, southern Baldivis, Karnup and Singleton. It will relieve pressure on existing train stations located in Rockingham, Warnbro and Mandurah.

The Karnup train station will be located at Paganoni road, an approximate half way point between Warnbro and Mandurah train stations. A bus interchange will be established at the station to integrate urban feeder bus services with the train network.

The project is part of Metronet stage one. Building will commence in 2020 and the station will open in 2022.
